The Arts Council is an all-volunteer, low-budget organization – founded over 40 years ago to promote arts, culture and heritage sectors of society and to serve in whatever capacity we can in assisting our local artists, musicians, historians, etc.
We have a 6 member active board. We meet the second Thursday every other month, Jan, March, May, Sept, Nov.
We organize Music in the Park, Wednesday night’s July – Aug at the Nakusp Park Gazebo from 6:30pm – 8:00pm. This is a free event, bring your lawn chairs or a blanket and enjoy some amazing entertainment. Sponsored by local grants and businesses.
We also organize the Concert Series in the Fall, Winter and Spring. These are stand alone single performances, sponsored my donations, grants and in-kind donations.
After school youth drama program and other events partnering up with other non-profit organizations.
We welcome all new members any time of the year. Contact us if you would like to become a member, volunteer and help support the Arts Council.
A creative incubator for locals, an inviting haven for visitors.
Along the placid shores of the West Kootenays’ Upper Arrow Lake, lays the rural village of Nakusp. Every week, the old Nakusp Firehall inspires, nourishes and supports the community by hosting Nakusp’s 50 Mile Year Round Market.
This market focuses on local – very local. In order to support the truly remote food producers and artisans in the area, all vendors are within a 50-mile radius of Nakusp. On offer, everything from fresh produce and apple cider, to handcrafted birdhouses and original works of art – and on market days, hot meals from the repurposed community kitchen.
Come and visit us at 91 4th Ave. NW in Nakusp! Everything is made right here in the shop and you may even find one of our chocolatiers hard at work at our public workstation so you can watch how your favourite treats are made!
Nestled in the heart of Nakusp, we proudly provide small engine sales and service for all our neighbours, from Edgewood to Trout Lake and all throughout the Slocan Valley.
