No matter what time of year, Whatshan Lake Retreat is a great meeting place for large groups, friends and family.

Our retreat is located in southeastern British Columbia, nestled in the Monashee mountains next to Whatshan Lake. We are just minutes away from the community of Edgewood.

The Retreat Centre Lodge offers full facilities for Corporate Retreats, seminars, workshops, family gatherings, weddings, concerts, and youth activities. Our acoustically engineered stage is perfect for music festivals and plays under the stars.
At Whatshan you can get away from it all to enjoy quiet peaceful walks and moments of contemplation. Paddle your canoe or kayak on the lake or plunge into bracing cool waters of the swimming hole in the nearby river. On July 3, 4, & 5, 2020 bring the whole family out for the events and activities during the Whatshan Jam, a Family & Friends Festival. In the winter bring your snowshoes and skis and trek through our over 200 acres of wilderness and beyond and then warm everyone up with some hot chocolate in one of our modern cabins.

Freedom Quest is one of the organizations that our charitable organization sponsors. Based in Castlegar, Freedom Quest seeks to support and strengthen youth in difficulty at home and in the community. Freedom Quest runs various youth programs which include activities at Whatshan.

Sandon in the kootenays.jpg

Sandon, BC is still an active community with less than 20 residents.  Most attractions are free to view, though donations are gratefully appreciated.  The town site of Sandon is mostly owned by Hal Wright, who has lived in Sandon since 1972, and the Silversmith Power and Light Corp who’s mission is to maintain and restore the historical importance of Sandon.  The restoration efforts for Sandon is not government funded and we rely on the donations and the kindness of individuals who volunteer.

Open 365 days a year, Halcyon is home to some of the most restorative hot spring waters you will find in North America. General Frederick Burnham, who owned the “Halcyon Sanitarium” until 1955 believed these waters should be shared with the world. We hold the same philosophy, along with a dream to create a village where everyone is welcome to relax and enjoy the healing waters of Halcyon Hot Springs, British Columbia.

The hot springs were first visited by the Ktunaxa First Nations peoples who experienced the waters as a welcome respite after a long day of hunting, fishing, and gathering roots and berries in what is now known as the Kootenay region. The Ktunaxa First Nations peoples embraced the nupika wu’u, or hot mineral waters, for their healing and rejuvenating powers and Ainsworth Hot Springs has been welcoming guests since the 1930s.
