Planned Power Outage, June 4, 2017: 8am – 8 pm

BC Hydro is currently working on a major project to restore and refurbish the transmission line that serves their customers in Brouse, Burton, East Arrow Park, Fauquier, Glenbank, Hills, Makinson, Nakusp, New Denver, Rosebery, Silverton and Summit Lake. This work will improve safety and ensure continued reliability. Click to see Project Information Sheet–planned power outage, June 4, 11.

In order to safely complete this work, several planned outages will be required. The details for the first two planned outages are as follows:

  • Sunday, June 4th from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. This outage will affect the communities of Brouse, Burton, East Arrow Park, Glenbank, Hills, Makinson, Nakusp, New Denver, Rosebery, Silverton and Summit Lake. Please note that Fauquier will not be affected by the outage. For this outage, Hwy 6 between Fauquier and New Denver will be reduced to one lane only for the safety of our crews. Traffic control measures will be in place.
  • CANCELLED (to be rescheduled for fall): Sunday, June 11th from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. This outage will affect the communities of Hills, New Denver, Rosebery, Silverton and Summit Lake. For this outage, Hwy 6 between Nakusp and New Denver will be reduced to one lane only for the safety of our crews. Traffic control measures will be in place.

These planned outages are required to protect the safety of the public and work crews. BC Hydro will bring in multiple crews in order to complete as much work as possible in an effort to minimize future planned outages. Currently they do not expect to schedule any additional planned outages for the project until after the summer tourist season, sometime in fall 2017. Thank you for your support while this improvement work is completed and apologize for the inconvenience. To protect your equipment from damage during the outage, please turn off all lights, electric heaters, major appliances and unplug all electronics.
