At A Glance

The Nakusp and Arrow Lakes region has many very active groups who are dedicated to creating and hosting all sorts of amazing events in our relatively small communities.

BC Day

The BC Day long weekend in August always promises lots of activities in Nakusp, including the Sandcastle Contest and a Softball Tournament.

Canada Day

Join us on July 1st in Nakusp, with a Pancake Breakfast by the volunteer firefighters, a parade, and then a variety of activities at the community park such as kid's races, games, a concession, and music in the gazebo.  As the skatepark lies adjacent to the community park, it is not unusual for a skateboard competition to be held the same day.  A fireworks show tops it all off just after dark.

Nakusp Music Festival

The Nakusp Music Fest is one of the top 10 summer music festivals in North America, and is held on the 3rd weekend in July each year.  It promises to be a very exciting event again this year, with another amazing line-up of bands.

Nakusp Wellness Festival

Wellness practitioners throughout the Kootenays gather together for the Nakusp Wellness Festival every second year, with the sole purpose to inspire you and show you many ways to attain a vibrant, healthy Mind, Body and Spirit. Explore new ways of healing, guest speakers, mini educational talks, workshops, health practitioners services, booths and great food.

Santa Claus Parade

Nakusp’s Santa Claus Parade in early December is a highlight for many children, and the evening is rounded out by a carol sing and hot refreshments

Summer

Ongoing events in the summer include ArtWalk in Nakusp, farmers’ markets in Nakusp and Edgewood, as well as Music In The Park every Wednesday evening, at the gazebo in Nakusp.

Winter

During winter the Arrow Lakes Ridge Riders hosts poker runs (on snowmobiles), one can try for “the big one” in the annual fishing derby, and the Arrow Lakes Arts Council hosts a series of fine cultural events such as pianists and plays.
