Arrow Lakes District Arts Council 2017-2018 Kootenay Artists Series

Maritime Kitchen Party

Saturday, September 23 @ 7pm

at the Royal Canadian Legion (404 1st St. NW)

Named after a well know tradition in Nova Soctia: we all know Maritimers love to party and inevitably the party ends up in the kitchen.  There’s always a guitar playing, someone belting out traditional songs at the top of their lungs.  MKP brings that feeling to their live performances, with foot-stomping music. We will be sharing the facilities with the Legion, so that at intermission you will have the regular Concession and the availability of the Legion bar.  (Enter through the Legion Lounge.)

Son of John Trio

Saturday, October 28 @7pm

at the Bonnington Arts Centre (619A 4th St. NW)

Johnny P. Johnson’s Son of John accompanied by Hal Rezansoff on stand up bass. Both Johnny and Javan have just recently received second ballot nominations from the BC Country Music Association on Johnny’s latest album Until You Get There in both the Country and the Roots and Traditional Folk Category.

at the Bonnington Arts Centre (619A 4th St. NW)

Violinist Olga Kotova and pianist Dimitry Nesterov call themselves “Duo Solista” to reflect their dedication to being both solo artists and chamber music performers.  Also partners at home, the husband and wife duo has played together since the age of 17 as classmates at the Mosco Central Music School.  Ms. Kotova and Mr. Nesterov are both graduates of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and have earned Masters in Music Performance degrees fro the University of Calgary.  Duo Solista are excited to some back to Nakusp and perform for us, as they consider us to be one of their founding supporters.

Duo Petrescu

Saturday, April 7 @ 7pm

at the Bonnington Arts Centre (619A 4th St. NW)

Pianist Cezara and baritone/artistic director Alexandru Petrescu are coming to Nakusp. They are full time teachers and performers in Iasi, Romania, and have mirrored their professional and personal lives together. This interaction shows in their harmonious, strong and delicate performances for both audiences and student master classes.  The ALDACS is very pleased to present these world class musicians in our Concert Series.
